الوليد بن طلال

When the Alwaleed Philanthropies Foundation began on 01/01/1980, that was

With full conviction that non-profit humanitarian work is complementary to commercial work

Profitability.

From this standpoint, we were able, by the end of the fortieth year of Al-Waleed’s founding, to...

For humanity and the beginning of humanitarian work, we have reached more than one billion beneficiaries in

the whole world.

This success is the result of hundreds of partnerships, led by 10 Saudi women

Led by the Secretary-General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, Princess Lamia bint Majid Al

Saud.

We look with great optimism at the future and seek to engage in it actively and effectively with purpose

Serving humanity and providing everything necessary, whether locally or regionally,

In the Arab world or internationally.

We strive for a world of equal opportunity Alwaleed Philanthropies - A Saudi NGO working to empower humanity A Saudi NGO whose mission is to build bridges for cultural understanding, community development, women and youth empowerment, and disaster relief in times of crisis. At Alwaleed Philanthropies, we are committed to humanity without borders. It all started over 40 years ago Alwaleed Philanthropies is a Saudi non-profit organization whose mission is to build bridges for cultural understanding, community development, women and youth empowerment, and disaster relief. Our commitment is to humanity without borders. The 1980s Our First Steps The journey of Alwaleed Philanthropies dates back more than forty years, when Prince Alwaleed bin Talal began his career as an investor and businessman. His Highness’s passion for philanthropy stemmed from his deep belief in the importance of giving and sharing as a human duty that has strong roots in Islam and Arab traditions. He has always been keen to give Zakat in its true sense, until it became an essential part of his life. Prince Alwaleed’s aid strategy revolves around flexibility and a holistic view, going beyond providing food, material and human aid to become a concept of investment in development, culture, education and health through his partners in humanitarian work from civil society institutions active in the fields of enhancing and developing the role of the individual and society in general, and women and children in particular. This strategy has provided an opportunity for diversification in supporting many charitable and humanitarian institutions and associations. The Nineties Giving to Society Over the years, Prince Alwaleed’s business expanded under the banner of “Kingdom Holding Company”, and in parallel with it, his charitable work expanded. By the nineties, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal had become a leading global investor and billionaire reaping the returns from his numerous investments around the world. Prince Alwaleed’s commercial profits continued to rise, and he was keen to continue giving back to society and giving to others, especially in societies in dire need of humanitarian aid and the simplest necessities of life. 2000 Kingdom Foundation for Strategic Initiatives Prince Alwaleed places personal emphasis on charitable work, ensuring that donations reach pre-selected beneficiaries to positively impact their lives and bring about targeted change. To formalize the Prince’s charitable work, and to apply the pillars of transparency, real impact, and management with precision and firmness, the “Kingdom Foundation for Strategic Initiatives” was established in 2000. 2010 Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation In 2010, with the expansion of the scope of charitable activities, the Foundation was licensed by the Ministry of Social Affairs, and was renamed to become known as Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, where it contributed to a wide range of private humanitarian projects and initiatives. 2020 Alwaleed Philanthropies Over the four decades of continuous charitable work, the work of Alwaleed Foundations has witnessed radical developments, and the scope of work has changed over the years to adapt to changing circumstances and times. As a result, the work of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and its three philanthropic institutions was unified under one name: “Alwaleed Philanthropies” driven by a single vision: to contribute to building a world of tolerance, acceptance, equality and opportunity for all. Today, “Alwaleed Philanthropies” operates globally, locally and regionally, and consists of three specialized branches: the first is global, the second is specialized locally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the last is dedicated to meeting social and community needs in Lebanon. The Foundation works with a unified goal of implementing humanitarian work “for humanity”, regardless of race or religion, and directs its efforts across five specific areas: stimulating intercultural understanding, developing communities, empowering women and youth, providing urgent and effective disaster relief, and developing a sustainable environment. Now, building on its rich history of making positive, tangible changes, “Alwaleed Philanthropies” seeks to build a future of tolerance, acceptance, equality and opportunity for all.
